Abstract: First Paragraph: Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) remains one of the most challenging causes of mortality in the young. The absence of clear findings before or after death, the mystery surrounding these deaths, and often the relatively young age of the parents are all factors that contribute to its devastating psychosocial impact, which—in addition to the tragedy of losing a young child— generates usually unwarranted guilty feelings, especially among the mothers.
